YOUNG people in Redhill are urged to be vigilant after a series of robberies in Redhill town centre targeting students.
Surrey Police is investigating 10 incidents in which lone youngsters have been threatened by a group of three offenders demanding cash, jewellery and mobile phones.
The incidents are reported to have happened mainly in the Marketfield Car Park area in the last 10 days.
Officers said they will continue to provide "high-visibility" patrols in the area.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Antony Archibald said: "These offences are shocking, the offenders are nothing but cowards, they work in a group and target lone victims who are usually young, college students.
"The offenders are demanding cash, jewellery and phones and have on several occasions suggested they are carrying a knife to threaten the victims.
"I believe there could be further victims who may not have reported these crimes to police, if you have been targeted by this group, please come forward and speak to officers.
"We need to establish as much information about those involved and bring them to justice for these despicable offences."
Reigate and Banstead Neighbourhood Inspector Angie Austin, said: "Since these offences were reported we have been working with local venues in the vicinity of Redhill Town Centre and with schools and colleges to warn people of the crimes and how to report suspicious behaviour.
"We will continue to provide high-visibility patrols in these areas to help prevent further occurrences and urge anyone who spots any suspicious behaviour to contact Surrey Police as a matter of urgency."
A 17-year-old boy from Earlswood was arrested on suspicion of robbery on Friday, January 30 and remains in police custody at this time.
