BANSTEAD'S torrid time with the bat continued as they were comfortably beaten by six wickets at Sutton, and remain bottom of the Surrey Championship Premier Division. Banstead, who finished all out for a mere 60 last Saturday, elected to bat first at Sutton. However, despite recent additions to the team, the Rams continued to struggle to notch runs with Ivo Hobson top scoring with just 23. Surrey youngster Freddie van den Bergh amassed 12 runs before bowled by Surrey team-mate Arun Harinath (1-11), while Liam Burns went for a duck to Garth Davson (4-12). While an improvement on 60, Banstead's 107 all out look a difficult total to defeat. Some smart bowling from Aman Shinwari (3-28) accounted for Sutton's first three batsmen, but with scores of 23, 14 and seven, the home side were already racking up the runs. Davson was caught by Josh Lawrence off the bowling of Van den Bergh for 26, but Daniel Edwards grabbed an unbeaten 31 alongside Russell Coombe (2no) as Sutton finished on 109-4.
