A KNEE operation will not stop a dedicated fundraiser from joining the battle against cancer. Last summer, Jane Medlam completed the 14-mile Marsden March to raise cash for the cancer centre at the Royal Marsden. But in July 2013 she had a knee operation which dented her plans for this year's fundraiser. But the 60-year-old from Walton-on-the-Hill has forged on regardless and will tackle the 5-mile course this Sunday alongside hundreds of other fundraisers. Her determination has been supported by her local Budgens store in Walton-on-the-Hill which has handed out her fundraising form to shoppers as Ms Medlam aims to raise as much money as possible for the centre which supported her ex husband. She said: "I am hoping to raise as much as possible. "My ex-husband has cancer and I have been going up the the Royal Marsden with him. Who doesn't know someone with cancer or who has been touched by it. "It is sad but it's the truth. "I had my knee operation in July and I am determined I will do it. "Cancer is a word that no one wants to hear but with the help and work of the Royal Marsden it can make dealing with it easier, it is such a good cause." She added: "Budgens have been fantastic, the staff took my sponsorship form and have been handing it out. "I'm not even sure how much they have helped me raise yet." To support Jane's effort visit Budgens in Walton Street, WAlton on the Hill. The Marsden March takes place on Sunday.
