AFTER months of preparation, the time has finally come for the Ultimate Fitness Boxing Show at Dorking Halls.
An evening of white collar semi-professional boxing will take place at the venue on Saturday, showcasing Surrey's up and coming boxers, including a few local lads from Dorking.
The event is the brainchild of the owner of the Ultimate Fitness gym in Leatherhead, Mark Houlden, and he said that he cannot wait for the first bout, which starts at 7pm.
He said: "We have got three junior exhibition bouts first before we get into the adult bouts. There are 13 bouts scheduled at the moment although it could be around ten on the night, but we are all looking forward to it and I can't wait for it to get going.
"We have a couple of local guys fighting too, including Dave Bull, who is going up against Lewie Omara in the main event.
"We also have Alan Harper and Jimmy Simpson, who is having his first fight and he is quite a tough nut.
"It should be a good night and we have got fighters coming from across the south, including some from Jumbo's in Redhill, a big club coming from Portsmouth, and a few guys from Aldershot."
The show is the first of its size for Ultimate Fitness, having held a small show last year, and Houlden says he has received a lot of support to help organise the event.
And he said he hopes it will be a success to reward the efforts of all involved, adding that it has been good to see everyone pitching in.
