DORKING Cricket Club captain Tim Johnson is looking for his side to regain momentum this week following a first defeat in four matches on Saturday.
Johnson's men have been on a good run of form of late, winning three matches in a row before the weekend's loss to promotion chasing Hampton Wick Royal.
But Johnson is not reading too much into the eight wicket defeat, adding that his young side have been gaining confidence in recent weeks.
He said: "We have just had three wins on the bounce and that is a real positive.
"We may have lost on Saturday, but we know we have been playing really well in the games before that.
"We have started to play some much better cricket in recent weeks, with our bowlers bowling more balls at off stump and our batsmen scoring more runs.
"Once they have been getting in they have gone on to big scores, like Chris Thurgood against Stoke D'Abernon.
"That has enabled us to create some pressure and our fielding has been fantastic too, so it all helps us to get better results and it is great to see.
"Hopefully it will continue and it is funny because momentum is a strange word, but it does matter."
However, Dorking face another tough test this weekend as they travel to face league leaders Guildford City, who will be looking to win to maintain their position at the top.
But Johnson says his side should not be fazed by playing another of the league's top sides.
He said: "It is another tough fixture for us, but you have to play these top teams at some point. I don't think we should be worried about it and if we play good cricket and perform like we have been, that's all we can ask."
Meanwhile, Johnson says his side are not setting any targets for the remainder of the Surrey Championship Division Five campaign, adding that they would simply take each game as it comes.
He said: "We don't make targets and the table will look after itself.
"We are fairly settled as a side at the moment and enjoying our cricket and hopefully we can continue to do that."
