A 25-year-old man from Dorking has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison for burglary and breaching an order imposed under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Matthew Phillip Hall was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, May 10, after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.
Hall was sentenced to four years for the burglary which occurred on March 30 and following his arrest for this offence it was discovered that Hall had breached the conditions he was set for a previous offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 by failing to notify police of a change in address and by attempting to make contact with the victim.
Hall was also re-sentenced to a further six months imprisonment in relation to a sexual assault on a young girl in a Dorking alleyway in June 2011.
Detective Inspector Sean Kelly from East Surrey CID said: "Hall is a predatory individual who targeted the same young girl on both occasions demonstrating deeply concerning behaviour and I welcome this sentence as it will protect his victim and the wider public from him for some time.
"His offending has had a devastating impact on the victim and her family and I would like to praise them for their courage and support throughout each investigation.
"Surrey Police will always pursue criminals and do whatever we can to bring them to justice, in this case the swift actions of the investigating officer, DC Colin Snell, have had the added benefit of recovering most of the stolen property."
The family of the victim said: "Our family is devastated by the acts this man has taken against us and we take comfort from the far reaching exclusions that have been put in place to protect us.
"We welcome the custodial sentence imposed by the court but are aware we will have to remain vigilant in the future, upon his release.
"His actions have left the family with a sense of unease and distaste that we all have following his invasion into our home and lives."
A restraining order was also imposed on Hall during the hearing which prohibits him from entering Dorking.
