Attempted knifepoint robbery in Epsom sparks manhunt

DETECTIVES are hunting a knife-wielding gang who threatened a couple in Epsom. The incident occurred at around 10.50pm on Friday May 3 as a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman walked through Rosebery Park on Ashley Road and were approached by four men. One of the offenders threatened the man with a knife but nothing was taken and neither victim was injured during the incident. Investigating officer Detective Constable Dave Every, said: "This was obviously a terrifying ordeal for the two victims and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time the offence took place and who saw anything suspicious to contact officers with information. "Surrey Police simply will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and we will do all we can to bring those responsible to justice. The offenders left the scene on foot in the direction of the A24. The first offender is described as an Asian man, aged around 18-years-old, around 5ft 2ins in height, with a small amount of stubble who was wearing a dark tracksuit. The second offender is described as an Asian man, around 5ft 10ins to 6ft in height. He wore a dark tracksuit with a piece of spotty dark-coloured fabric covering the lower part of his face. The third offender is described as a black man, around 6ft in height who wore a black tracksuit. The fourth offender is described as a white man, around 5ft 6ins in height, also wearing a dark tracksuit.
