RESIDENTS packed the Buckland Road Recreation Ground as the sun shone on this year's Lower Kingswood Village Fete.

There was no space to park as families poured in to enjoy the dog show, zumba display, magic demonstration and an exhibition of Renault cars from the 1980s and 1990s.

David Patel, chairman of the Lower Kingswood Residents' Association, said: "It went amazingly well. There were a lot of people and I think everyone had a good feeling and a good experience.

"What was very nice was that, for the first time in a long time, it didn't rain, which was a pleasant surprise – it normally rains on fete day."

He added: "The aim was to promote the village and we had lots of different groups there, it was very good.

"It was very, very busy; Buckland Road was totally packed and the car park was full up."

The local Scouts, Brownies and Guide groups all took part, and there was a climbing wall and bouncy castles to keep youngsters entertained.

Reigate and Banstead borough councillor Frank Kelly attended the event.

He posted on Twitter: "Just back from Lower Kingswood May Fayre. Thanks Bob Gardner for the invite. Owls and stalls were amazing."
