TODAY'S snow has settled on the higher parts of the North Downs in Surrey but roads are not affected.
Despite the calendar showing April 4, it has been much colder than a Januiary day and snow has fallen throughout the morning, but not heavily.
However, at midday the snow began to settle above 600ft and the woodland and open spaces around Reigate Hill and Lower Kingswood turned white.
The iclement weather did not stop people going out for walks in the wintry conditions and there was a brisk trade in hot food and drinks at the refreshment kiosk atop Reigate Hill, where the temperature at 1.30pm was just a decimal point or two above freezing point.
