A WOMAN whose partner was successfully treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia has raised more than £2,000 for the charity.
Victoria Bullen, from Leatherhead, decided to take part in the Marsden March after her boyfriend Carl Fleming, 28, went into remission following a five-month course of chemotherapy at the hospital.
The 22-year-old was joined on the walk by Carl, as well as his mother Kim, sister Danielle and brother Steve.
She said: "The day went well and it was really touching to read the messages people had on their backs, some of recovery and success and others where people were doing the walk in remembrance.
"There was a few thousand people there and it just shows how many people are grateful for the work of the Marsden. It took us five hours to walk but we had a really good time."
She added: "I really cannot put into words how grateful his family, friends and I were with his treatment, and with check-ups he will hopefully get the all-clear in the next five years.
"The Royal Marsden is an outstanding hospital, and does an amazing job, from the receptionists and canteen staff to the doctors and researchers."
