TWO burst water mains in Dovers Green Road, Reigate, forced the closure of the A217 yesterday.
About 2,500 residents were either without water or reported low pressure for around two hours from 6am, before supplies were fully restored around the middle of the morning.
Sutton and East Surrey Water got to work repairing both the road and the mains but the busy A217 has been closed for surface repairs in the area.
"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this incident may be causing and assure customers we are working to get the road reopened as quickly as possible," said project engineer, Fiona Smithee.
Today Sutton and East Surrey Water announced the road will remain closed through the weekend.
A statement on the company's website said: "The A217 Dovers Green Road will remain closed until repairs are completed and the road surface is reinstated. We are provisionally expecting the road to open again on Monday morning."
