South Park ended their six game losing streak with a 1-0 home win against Walton & Hersham thanks to Dave Smith's 89th minute winner.
On a heavy pitch it was the away side who started brightly, their first chance coming from a left wing cross which was headed over the bar at the near post. Ayling dragged a shot form 18 yards past the post as Park got into the game. Cottee cutting in from the right forced Wastell to turn his sot round the post. Burgess was tormenting the Walton right back and when he pulled the ball back to the edge of the box the visitors were relive to crowd out Park. Chris Smith squared the ball into the box where Ross saved at the feet of Jackson. Lavery's ran from midfield beating 3 opponents before slipping the ball through to Chris Smith however Ross was alert and cleared the danger. Chris Smith had a shot blocked before crossing for Jackson whose effort was saved by Ross. David Smith blazed over the bar from the edge of the box whilst Cottee's glancing header flashed past the Park upright.
A cross from the left by Chris Smith picked out Jackson whose goal bound header was tipped over the bar by Ross. Lavery headed straight at the keeper and Chris Smith fired over the bar as the two sides went in level at the break.
Walton attacked down the left straight from the re-start and Cottee flashed a cross along the six yard box fortunately for Park it evaded the onrushing Walton forwards.
Cottee shot over the bar for the visitors before Chris Smith just failed to get on the end of David Smith's right wing cross. Guscott on the stretch just managed to knock the ball back to Wastell to clear as Walton put Park's back line under pressure. Jackson's half volley was held by Ross.
An angled shot from 15 yards came back off the Park post while David Smith's shot was pushed away by the Walton keeper. Burgess had a left foot shot saved Whilst at the other end Wastell blocked a shot from Cover. Hatfield on the cover cleared a Walton attack as both sides searched for the winner.
Guscott blocked a shot with his body and Stafford's timely interception kept the visitors at bay. With time running out Higgins ball found Hatfield overlapping down the left.
His excellent cross missed out Chris Smith at the near post and with Ross hesitating in the Walton goal Dave Smith calmly fired home from 10 yards at the far post to seal a hard earned victory for Park.
Park now have successive away fixtures at East Grinstead Town on Saturday and league leaders Burgess Hill Town next Wednesday.
