A key figure behind Oxted School's controversial foundation/academy plans has been put forward for an accolade.

Rhona Barnfield, the school's executive head since September 2013, is among those put forward on Surrey Chambers Business Women in Surrey list.

She has been nominated for "her passionate tenacity in improving education standards across the county, with the belief that every child has the right to a good education."

Mrs Barnfield is also executive head of The Howard Partnership Trust.

Created in November 2013 and led by Howard of Effingham School, the trust "supports schools across Surrey improve their standards."

Voting for the 71 nominees is open until February 27 at www.businesswomeninsurrey.co.uk
