A HORLEY care home resident is in a serious condition after suffering burns and smoke inhalation in a fire.
Emergency services were called to Barnfield Care Home in Upfield yesterday (Monday) at just before 10am.
It is believed a fire broke out in the home, run by Anchor, which a crew member at Horley station could only confirm was being "investigated".
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance service also attended, who assigned Surrey Air Ambulance to airlift the patient to St George's Hospital in Tooting.
A mission report stated the casualty suffered "accidental injury".
A spokesman for Secamb said: "Ambulance crews attended a property in Upfield, Horley at approximately 10am yesterday following reports of a fire.
"We also assigned the air ambulance to attend the incident. One patient was airlifted to St George's Hospital in a serious condition."
