ARSENAL are reportedly in talks with Spanish side Villareal over a potential move for Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Paulista.
The Gunners are understood to be in the market for a defender after struggling for consistency at the back this season, with several key players suffering injuries.
And the Daily Telegraph is reporting that Arsenal could make an initial £6m bid for Paulista, which could rise to £10m.
Arsenal's Premier League rivals Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the Brazilian, but Arsenal are hoping to steal a march by making a bid this month.
However, any potential deal could be complicated by a work permit for Paulista, with the 24-year-old yet to feature for Brazil at international level.
