A FAMILY who were left terrified following an aggravated burglary at their home in Kingswood will speak publicly for the first time on BBC Crimewatch this evening (Wednesday).
The programme reconstructs the events that occurred during the evening of Wednesday, November 12, in which a mother in her 50s and two daughters in their 20s were assaulted and threatened.
A lone intruder entered the property at around 5.45pm and forced the three women to remove their jewellery before violently assaulting and forcing them to open a safe to steal more expensive jewellery.
During the reconstruction, the victims will make an emotional plea to anyone who has information regarding the burglary to come forward in order to stop the offender striking again and to bring him to justice.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Antony Archibald, will also feature on the programme, is appealing to anyone who has information to speak up.
He said: "This was a horrifying ordeal for the family involved, they believed they were going to come to some serious harm, it is every family's worst nightmare.
"The family's eldest daughter is expecting their first grandchild and was heavily pregnant at the time of the offence; this did not seem to affect the intruder, who kicked her and her mother and sister in the stomach even after they had given into his demands.
"They were fully compliant throughout the incident.
"In the time which has past, I believe the offender will have confided in someone about the offence but he probably failed to mention that he violently assaulted a pregnant woman. If you are this person, please come forward and speak with us.
"I believe the family was specifically targeted because the burglars had very detailed demands and I am sure someone will be able to piece all of these together and provide us with a name for the offender.
"I would also urge anyone who has been offered any of the stolen items for sale or who knows a person who has suddenly come into possession of such an item and has their suspicions about them to provide information.
"Someone, somewhere knows who is responsible for the appalling attack."
Contact Surrey Police or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with information.
Crimewatch Editor, Joe Mather, said: "We are hopeful that our accurate reconstruction made in close collaboration with Surrey Police will encourage viewers to contact the programme with the crucial information needed to catch this dangerous offender and help bring some piece of mind to the Stiff family."
Crimewatch is due to be broadcast at 9pm tonight on BBC 1.
The programme will also feature an update on an armed robbery at Bletchingley Post Office which occurred on New Year's Eve, 2013, and featured on Crimewatch in January 2014.
The offender was caught as a result of the programme and was sentenced to life imprisonment in December.
