FIREFIGHTERS from Dorking, Reigate and Godstone worked throughout the night to battle a blaze at a home in Walton on the Hill.
As the run rose this morning the fire was under control but the charred remains of the house's roof canl be seen from Heath Drive, Walton on the Hill.
Firefighters are still present at the scene ensuring it is safe and an investigation into the cause is underway.
Six fire engines were called to the scene at around 8.30 last night and the first team was relieved at 1am.
The inhabitants of the house escaped unharmed but firefighters struggled with freezing conditions which caused water to turn to ice on the floor.
