STEVE BAKER admits he is quick to let his players know when he is not happy with their performance, but the Chipstead manager had few criticisms despite a 3-0 home defeat on Saturday.
The Chips lost 3-0 to title-chasing Folkestone Invicta, but manager Baker insisted: "If there is a good way to lose a game; this was it."
He added: "I read a report online that said it was a 'comfortable win' for Folkestone but it was far from that.
"We were excellent for 70 or 75 minutes and matched them player for player but we just didn't get the rub of the green.
"We had two goals disallowed. The first was straight from kick-off.
"Will Turl put the ball in the back of the net and the Folkestone players were taking the ball back to the centre circle when the linesman eventually flagged.
"I've never seen anything like it in my life. He said his buzzer wasn't working.
"Then the same thing happened 20 minutes later when Dan Moody scored. The second was quite close but the first wasn't offside."
And Baker felt it was Folkestone's second that highlighted the difference between the top sides and the rest of the league.
"The only thing I was disappointed by was their second goal because that absolutely killed us," he said. "Then you end up leaving yourself really open and they of course get the third.
"That's the difference between the top sides and the rest of the league; they don't give away goals like we do.
"I'm quick to let the boys know when I'm not happy, as I did a few weeks ago, but on Saturday they played some good stuff.
"We knew Folkestone were going to be a tough side to play and so they should be with what I've heard is a very healthy budget."
It does not get any easier for Chipstead as they go from one Ryman League Division One South title contender to another, as they travel to Merstham on Saturday.
"It's going to be another tough game," Baker said.
"We know all about them and they know all about us after two very close cup ties earlier in the season."
