Round up: Midweek wins for Merstham, Whyteleafe and Horley Town

MERSTHAM rose to the top of Ryman League Division One South on Tuesday night after beating Sittingbourne 5-0 away. Tommy Hutchings scored a brace while Marc Okoye, Omar Folkes and Simon Cooper added one each for the Moatsiders. Merstham are on equal points with second-placed Burgess Hill Town and the teams also have the same difference, but Merstham have scored more goals. They have also played five more games. Chipstead fell to a 2-1 defeat to Burgess Hill Town after some sloppy marking. Burgess Hill took the lead after ten minutes through Rob O'Toole before Chipstead equalised thanks to a Shaun Preddie header, how Greg Luer secured all three points for the Sussex side. Ryan Fowler scored twice as Whyteleafe beat Herne Bay 3-1. The other Leafe goal was an own goal. Former Redhill striker Billy Medlock scored all four goals as Conference South side Sutton United knocked South Park out of the Surrey Senior Cup. Park's consolation was scored by Jack Stafford. Ryan Brackpool and Ashley Nadesan scored for Horley Town as they collected a vital three points against Hanworth Villa in a Combined Counties League fixture.
