MORE than 500 neighbours, children and families gathered around the home of Sam Hasler on Sunday to see what new additions she has made to her Christmas lights.
She even persuaded Santa to come along as a special guest to switch on the lights at her home in Barrow Green Road, Oxted.
Crown Marquees provided support with power and four marquees, while Hurst Green Shires, a horse riding centre, provided Santa with a fairy light-lit carriage and two horses.
With a nip in the air, the crowds drank six litres of mulled wine, one and a half barrels of beer and 30 litres of hot chocolate while munching their way through cakes and burgers.
Mrs Hasler, whose huge display is made up of 60 sets of lights and statues, organises the event for charity.
This year's total, which currently stands at £1,000 but is expected to rise, will go to Action for Children, which runs Pastens children's home in Pains Hill.
Mrs Hasler told the Mirror this year's event is set to be her last, however.
"When events grow the costs go up and obviously we have made £1,000 but if it had rained we wouldn't have made any money," she said. "It makes me sad to think it's the last year. Maybe if there was a group or a committee I might consider how we could carry it on.
"At the same time it's nice to go out on a high. Everything has to end at some point. I feel I have been very lucky so far.
"But, put it this way, you won't see my lights being sold on eBay just yet."
