MONEY to keep Banstead Commons maintained could be at risk.
Banstead Commons Conservators manage almost 1,400 acres making up the four Banstead Commons: Banstead Downs, Park Downs, Burgh Heath and Banstead Heath.
All are owned by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council and the conservators receive a grant to look after them. Ten years ago the conservators were eligible for external funding, meaning the council reduced its grant by more than 40 per cent in that time.
However the external funding is now under review and the group may no longer be eligible. One suggestion is to form a Friends of the Commons group of local fundraisers. But the conservators want more views from residents to help shape their future plans. An online survey can be completed at www.bansteadcommons conservators.org.uk/
