HALF-TERM holidaymakers have been warned of delays as roadworks continue on the M23 near Gatwick.
Work is currently taking place on a bridge which carries the M23 over Coopers Hill Road and the Redhill to Tonbridge railway line.
That means just two lanes are open in both directions between junctions 8 and 9 and speed restrictions are in place.
Gatwick says this half term is expected to be the busiest ever, with more than 509,000 people flying from the airport between today (Friday) and Sunday, November 2.
Around 60,000 people will be returning on November 2.
The £2 million road works, due to finish at the end of November, have already caused delays for commuters during rush hour with reports of tailbacks going back several miles through Surrey and Sussex.
However higher volumes of traffic during half term is likely to cause even longer journey times.
