REDHILL boss Mike Maher says he would rather play badly and win as he bemoaned his side's exit from the FA Trophy last night (Tuesday).
The Lobsters crashed out of the competition at the preliminary round stage after losing 2-1 at home to Brentwood Town in a replay at Kiln Brow, despite enjoying the bulk of possession and having several good chances.
But Maher said his players need to be more clinical in the final third, adding that while he was pleased with the way his side tried to play football in difficult conditions, he was unhappy with the defeat.
"We weren't good enough in the final third," he said.
"Football is about scoring goals and in fairness to them, they took their chances.
"We need to be more clinical in the box and it is disappointing, because we were the footballing side.
"They were everything I expected them to be and maybe we need to play ugly and win games - that is a lesson we could learn from this."
