REDHILL boss Mike Maher was less than impressed by Brentwood Town's physical nature during their 1-1 draw in the FA Trophy preliminary round on Saturday.
Maher was highly critical of some the Blues' tactics during the game, in which Tyrone Pink suffered a broken nose after a clash with Louis Baucutt.
Brentwood also had player/joint-manager Danny Dafter sent off in the second half with the feisty encounter boiling over.
Maher said: "We hammered them and we were the footballing side. I was far from impressed by some of the late tackles that went in on our players. A player elbowed one of ours and he has come out with a broken nose.
"I think maybe we were a little intimidated by that in the first half, but in the second they couldn't get out their half and we imposed ourselves on them. But we didn't score, even though we have had probably triple the amount of chances that they had, but we haven't made them count.
"They wanted it a little bit more in the first, either rightly or wrongly with the tactics that they employed. But we will be ready for them on Tuesday night.
"I think it was feisty just by one side. The player has been elbowed straight across his face and his nose has been broken. The referee's words were "I haven't seen it", so I asked why he booked him and he said it was because the player was on the floor. The stories just didn't add up and I think some referees are just afraid to make the big decisions."
Yeshaya Lomotey's early strike for Brentwood was cancelled out by Chris O'Flaherty's second half goal, which curled in straight from a corner.
But when Dafter was sent off in the 66th minute, the Lobsters pushed hard for a winner, but were unable to grab a guaranteed place in the next round.
Maher added: "We have been in the position were we have had ten-men and have gone on to hold on. We are better with ten sometimes than with 11, when we are forced to concentrate more. I don't think it has a massive advantage, as a lot of it is mental and fair play to them for holding out. But we had a load of chances, which we just didn't put away."
The replay will be played on Tuesday night at Kiln Brow, with the winner set to host Biggleswade Town on November 1 in the first round qualifying.
Maher said: "We have got to go again and we have an injury list as long as your arm. We were made to warm-up on a public park and a player has got injured on a divot. It is just incredible."
