A 16-year-old boy was punched twice in the face during an attempted robbery in South Nutfield.
Officers were called following the incident which occurred on Bower Hill Lane at around 1am on Saturday, October 11.
The teenager, who had attended a private party nearby, was confronted by the offender who demanded his phone. When he refused to hand over his property he was punched but did not suffer any lasting injuries.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Karen Scholey, said: "It is believed the offender was with a group of friends who were turned away from the private party which the victim was attending. Once they had left the grounds of the property they confronted the victim and his friend before leaving the scene empty handed.
"I would appeal to anyone who was at the party who either saw any part of the incident or who can identify the offender to contact us with information."
The offender is described as a white male, aged around 16 to 17-years-old, over 6ft tall in height, of slim build and with short blond hair which was combed to one side. He was wearing a grey Adidas hooded top and blue jeans.
