MANAGER Hayden Bird is hoping to see Merstham collect two wins from their next two fixtures, admitting it could be an "important six points for us".
Merstham travel to Ryman League Division One South strugglers East Grinstead Town on Saturday before hosting Walton Casuals on Tuesday.
And after beating Tooting & Mitcham United 5-0 in the Ryman League Cup on Tuesday night, Bird is hoping the Moatsiders take than form into the league encounters.
"In our last 13 games, we have only lost to Whitehawk, who are two leagues above us, and Burgess Hill Town, who are comfortably leading our league," the Merstham boss explained. "I'm confident we will be where we need to be in the table when we need to be there.
"We have East Grinstead on Saturday and I believe they beat Three Bridges 4-2 in the cup on Tuesday so by no means is that going to be an easy game. I really don't think there are any easy games in this league.
"And then we have Walton Casuals, which will be another tough game, but hopefully we will win and build on the cup victory. It would be an important six points for us."
Tommy Hutchings scored a hat-trick as Merstham romped to victory at Tooting, and while many managers rested players for the League Cup, Bird believes every competition should be treated with "respect".
"The boys played really well and it was great to get a win against one of our local rivals," the manager said. "I think every competition should be taken seriously and given respect and I don't understand why any clubs would think otherwise.
"We don't have a reserve team so I gave some of the first-team players who haven't been getting many minutes lately a run out and quite a few made strong statements for their places.
"It was great to see Tommy Hutchings score a hat-trick. He lives on goals but he's been a bit unlucky of late."
