UPDATE: Sir Cliff Richard has slammed the allegations against him as "completely false" in a statement today.
POLICE have searched a home apparently belonging to music legend Sir Cliff Richard in relation to an alleged historical sex offence.
Officers are searching the property in Suningdale, Berkshire, as part of the investigation into an apparent allegation involving a boy aged 16 in the 1980s.
No one has been arrested and Sir Cliff was not present at the house at the time. The investigation is apparently not linked to the Operation Yewtree investigation.
Sir Cliff - born Harry Webb - is a long-time Surrey resident, who lived for many years in in St George's Hill, Weybridge. He is one of the most successful British musicians of all time and has represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We can confirm that Thames Valley Police has today assisted South Yorkshire Police with the execution of a search warrant at an address in Sunningdale, Berkshire."
South Yorkshire Police has been contacted for a comment.
