Saker: Surrey Championship title is Reigate Priory's to lose

NEIL SAKER admits the title is Reigate Priory's to lose, with the Llamas needing just three wins from their last five fixtures to be crowned champions.

In recent years, the Surrey Championship Premier Division has been dominated by Wimbledon, with Priory having last finished top in 2010.

However, the Llamas currently have a 23-point lead over second-placed Wimbledon going into the final five games, which are played in the reduced 50-over format.

And Priory skipper Saker is confident his team will not falter at the final hurdle.

"Going into the last five one-dayers, I think we would need to lose at least three of the five and Wimbledon would need to win all five for us not to win the league," he said. "We are in a good position, a strong position and I'd back us all the way to get the three results we need from the last five.

"I don't like thinking too far ahead, but I'd definitely back us from this position to win the league. It's far from won, but we are in a very good position."

Priory travel to local rivals Banstead on Saturday, who are also targeting a minimum of three wins from five for an entirely different reason.
