MICK SULLIVAN is back at Merstham - but this time he will be assistant manager.
Sullivan guided Merstham to promotion from the Combined Counties League to the Ryman League, before leaving to take over at local rivals Leatherhead in May 2009.
He then guided the Tanners to promotion to the Ryman League Premier Division in 2010-11 before being sacked after a series of disappointing results the following season.
Sullivan took over at Ryman South side Walton Casuals in October 2011 but could not repeat the success he had with the Moatsiders and Tanners, and departed a year later.
And now after 18 months out of the game, Sullivan is back at the Moatside where he will be working under current boss Hayden Bird and helping with scouting.
"Last season, Mick was at our games so often that I thought I might as well ask him to join the staff," Bird explained. "It was something I had been thinking about for around a year and then David Graves decided to step down as assistant manager because of work commitments. David will still be playing for the club but he's started his own business and so didn't have the time for more.
"Mick knows the club and he has been out of football for a year and a half so was keen to get back involved, it was a perfect fit."
