REDHILL Football Club have paid tribute to a former press officer who died on May 29.
David Challinor worked at the club for nine months up until September last year, when he began working in Oxfordshire as an assistant editor on a number of business titles.
A statement on the club's website said: "Redhill FC find themselves devastated once again following the announcement that former press officer and programme editor David Challinor has passed away following a heart attack."
Speaking to the Mirror, manager Mike Maher added: "He was an absolute gentleman, a proper club man and he did a massive job.
"He did more for the club in one year from the media side of things than had been done ten years previously.
"He's boosted the club's publicity and he was so easy to work with.
"He made it easy for us and never intruded but he would always make time to speak to us whenever we needed him. It was a shame he had to leave. He was a loss to the club then and now he is a loss to all manner of people."
Mr Challinor leaves his wife and daughter.
