ONE of the borough's most prolific fundraising groups is again looking for a worthy project to turn their hands to.

Members of the Redhill and Reigate Round Table are ready with their tools and elbow-grease to help the community this summer, as part of the Big Dig project.

The event involves about 20 volunteers giving up a weekend in August to plant, redecorate, build or renovate a community facility.

The group is now looking for this year's candidates.

Chairman Morgan Arnell said: "If anyone has any ideas for projects 20 blokes can take on over a weekend, we would like to know."

The event, which is now in its fourth year, has previously helped to create a garden for Brooklands School and an outdoor play area for Sandcross Infant School, both in Reigate.

Last year, two rooms in Reigate Methodist Church, home to Reigate High Street Playgroup, were given a lick of paint.

"We tend to step in where there's a real need that can't be met by other means, and it does need to be achievable by us," Mr Arnell added.

Projects have to be local to Reigate and Redhill. If you want to apply, contact the group via www.rt119.org.uk or call newsdesk on 01737 783 867.
