A REIGATE school is twinning with a state boarding school in France.
The Royal Alexandra and Albert School (RAAS), in Gatton Park, is to link with L'Ecole des Pupilles de L'Air, in France.
The arrangement will allow pupils from both schools to have exchange visits, which RAAS anticipates will develop their language skills.
The headmaster of the French school, Colonel Jean-Xavier Chabane, a serving officer in the French Air Force, visited RAAS on May 10 and attended the Founders' Day service in the school's chapel.
After the service, Paul Spencer Ellis, headmaster at RAAS, presented Colonel Chabane with a shield bearing the school's crest.
French A Level students also had the chance to test their French-speaking skills when they made a presentation to Colonel Chabane and his wife.
Mr Spencer Ellis said: "We look forward to developing strong ties with L'Ecole des Pupilles de L'Air over the coming years."
