A NEW rugby fitness programme has been piloted in Reigate.
Developed by One Element and England Rugby, the programme was unveiled at Old Reigatian RFC in Park Lane, Reigate.
Alastair Marks, head of rugby growth for the Rugby Football Union, said: "Rugby clubs are a key part of the local community and can provide both social and fitness opportunities alike.
"Rugby and team sports training offers huge benefits, so we want to get people out of the gyms training on their own, to training with others, where we believe you work harder, communicate better and motivate each other."
One Element founder Tom Marien added: "We have in excess of 25 training sessions that work on upper body, lower body and then, within these, power, strength and endurance. The session's variety will consistently push all types of fitness to their peak."
Reigate was chosen as one of the pilot locations for the new initiative, which is being considered for a national roll-out. The organisers hope the programme will introduce people to their rugby club, and inspire them to keep coming back.
