POLICE officers searched through gardens in pursuit of a teenager in Horley at the weekend.
Residents around the Yattendon area were shocked to find officers checking their gardens on Sunday afternoon and the police helicopter was in the area while the search was carried out.
Shortly after 2.15pm, an officer was investigating another matter when he spotted a man acting suspiciously.
In the ensuing pursuit, members of East Surrey CID, response units and neighbourhood officers were called in to help.
The chase spread through Lumley Road, Oakwood Road and Albert Road and the police helicopter was seen to land in Meath Green School.
Neighbourhood Inspector Dan Gutierrez, said: "No doubt the pursuit which included a number of officers and the helicopter caused concern in this usually quiet part of Horley but I would like to reassure the community that we have now arrested a man and he remains in police custody at this time.
"I would like to thank the residents of the streets affected for their understanding while this pursuit was in progress and anyone who would like to discuss the incident further can contact the neighbourhood team on 101."
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with burglary.
