IT was as hot as early June in Reigate and Redhill today (Sunday March 16th 2014). With unbroken sunshine and cloudless blue skies it was as good as a fine summer's day across all of Surrey.
Crowds flocked to the tourist hot spots and people were out in force at Box Hill and other popular "resorts".
The temperature at Reigate Grammar School's automatic weather station reached 68F (19.8C) at 3.06pm, making it the hottest day of the year so far and the warmest day since last October.
Surrey weatherman Ian Currie recorded 19C at Chipstead.
He said: "Unlike last March which was very cold with snow at times this year it has been remarkably mild."
He said there had been only two other March days in the past 35 years which were as warm as today.
