HORLEY Town are hoping striker Kyle Hough comes back to haunt his former club Epsom & Ewell on Saturday, as caretaker manager Anthony Jupp admits his side really need the points.
The Combined Counties League Premier Division basements boys have had a hard run of late, losing 2-0 at second-placed Camberley Town last weekend before facing the third-placed Salts this Saturday.
But Jupp knows if his side are to survive relegation, they need to start producing some positive results.
"Epsom are obviously in good form, having beaten South Park last night," Jupp said. "We do normally play better against the better sides than the sides down the bottom though, so you never know.
"We need to start picking up points because this is looking like it might go right to the end of the season, and we have South Park in the second-to-last game. I don't want a scenario where we have to win to stay up and they have to win to win the league."
And Saturday's game should be all the more interesting for Hough's transfer back to Horley after starting the season with Epsom.
"I saw Epsom have signed a player from Chipstead who scored twice against South Park, Kyle said he's good," Jupp said. "He scored two against South Park, but hopefully Kyle will score two on Saturday."
Despite the 2-0 scoreline last weekend, Jupp, who played 90 minutes, was happy with his team's improved performance at Camberley.
"We might have still lost but we played really well so I was quite pleased," he explained. "We were 1-0 down after 15 minutes but then we had a number of one-on-ones. If it had been 3-1 to us at half-time I don't think they could have complained. We actually scored, the ball crossed the line by a foot but the linesman didn't give it.
"We went in search of an equaliser and then they got their second."
