FOUR men were hurt when two cars crashed at a notorious accident blackspot on Reigate Hill. The cars, a Saab and a Ford, crashed in the southbound lane, as one was heading towards Reigate and the other crossing the main road from Wray Lane, shortly after midday today. Police, one fire crew from Reigate and four ambulances were called to the scene. Four men - three passengers from one car, who were on their way to a charity football match - and one man in the other car, were hurt, but described as "walking wounded". A high number of crashes have been recorded at the junction in recent years. In 2012, Surrey County Council put up screening panels to block sight lines for cars approaching from the Wray Lane junction, but the measure led to an increase in crashes and the panels were removed. Road safety chiefs admitted at the time that they were unsure how to improve safety at the junction.
