Man arrested after suspected stabbing in Tatsfield

A MAN has been arrested following this morning's serious assault in Tatsfield, in which a man received suspected stab wounds. Surrey Police officers and ambulance crews were called to Kemsley Road at around 7.20am today (Wednesday). The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment to abdomen injuries which police do not currently believe are life threatening. Investigating officer Detective Constable Craig Giles said: "This was a frightening incident for those who witnessed the assault and the aftermath and I hope the quick arrest goes some way to reassure the Tatsfield community. "We need to establish the full facts around this incident and I would urge anyone with information which may help us to do this to contact us as a matter of urgency." Officers who quickly attended followed up on information passed to them and carried out a thorough search of the area for the suspect. A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently in police custody. Detectives continue to conduct enquiries in the area and have urged anyone with information on the crime to come forward. Local officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team are also assisting detectives with their investigation and are providing reassurance patrols in the area.
