LITTLE Svara Kapse clearly wanted to wait until Christmas Day to arrive in the world.
The first of seven Christmas Day babies to be born at East Surrey Hospital, she arrived at 12.44am, weighing 2.3kg, and just missed out on sharing her birthday with dad Vijay, who turned 29 on Christmas Eve.
Delivered by caesarean, she was the first child for Mr Kapse and his wife Snehal, 23, of Vicarage Lane, Horley.
She was due to arrive on January 12 so her parents had expected to spend their Christmas Day with friends, rather than in East Surrey Hospital.
"We were in the ward from the 23rd so we thought she might come on the 24th but she obviously wanted to wait until Christmas Day," said Mr Kapse.
"The doctors told us she was the first to be born on Christmas Day so it was very exciting.
"All the staff were really helpful, all the doctors and midwives were great."
