NATHAN Stone is not the boy he once was – and it's all thanks to a sponsored head-shave for charity.
The 14-year-old's flowing locks were removed last month. So far he has raised £800 in sponsorship, to be divided between the Warlingham-based Lily Foundation and the Croydon branch of the MS Society.
His mother Sarah, of Crowborough Drive, said: "I'm proud of him. I think I was more nervous than he was. He had quite a mop of hair.
"Nathan had to get special permission from the head teacher of Warlingham School to go through with the head shave.
"The following morning he wore a hat because his head was so cold."
Nathan plays for Warlingham under-15s and coaches there have given him the beanie hat to keep his head warm.
The shave was carried out at Jimmys Barbers in Limpsfield Road, Hamsey Green.
