SAND bags and additional pumps are on hand as Gatwick Airport aims to minimise any damage from flooding over the weekend.
With heavy rain and strong wind predicted, airport bosses are determined to avoid the havoc which was caused last week when flooding caused power outages in the North Terminal leading to lengthy delays and cancellations.
All critical sub-stations and switch rooms for example have been given sand bag protection and additional pumps are located around the airport to remove any water build-up in critical locations.
There are also extra stand-by generators on the airport additional engineering and electrical staff will be on site throughout the weekend to respond quickly to any issue that may arise.
Passengers are still advised to check flights with the airlines before travelling and also to check road and rail conditions.
