PANTO stars took time out before the curtain came up to help launch a new playground – oh yes they did.

Dame Dolly Donut and The Henchman popped down to Redhill's Rivers Estate before their first performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Harlequin Theatre last Saturday.

The facility includes a play section for under 5s, an accessible roundabout, slides, rockers and swings. It was paid for through a combination of money from Surrey County Council's Travel Smart fund, investment from Raven Housing and a Raven residents' group.

Emma Budgen, one of the parents at the launch event, said: "The new playground's brilliant – we love it.

"The kids have been out there every day and it's so much better now that there's the bit for younger ones."

Glyn Elliott, Raven's neighbourhood warden, who led the playground project, said: "After talking to residents it was clear there was a need to update and improve the play area.

"Young people are really pleased with the result and we hope it will continue to be a focal point for the community."
