FLOOD warnings across Surrey have been lowered as the county begins to recover from the storms which battered us earlier this week.
The River Mole burst its banks in places with homes, shops and hotels drowned in feet of water.
The Burford Bridge Hotel at the foot of Box Hill made national news as firefighters used boats to rescue stranded guests and supermarkets in Reigate and Hookwood found their car parks turned into lakes.
Many roads were rendered impassable as some car became stranded in the rising waters and at Gatwick passengers were delayed for hours after flooding took out power in the North Terminal.
Flood alerts in the area were raised to severe - the highest level - on Christmas Eve as the crisis took hold.
Last night the Environment Agency lowered flood warnings across the area, with the River Mole at Gatwick, Salfords and Burstow now graded as a Flood Alert, meaning flooding is possible.
Flood warnings are no longer in force for the River Mole at Dorking, Brockham, Sidlow, Leigh, Betchworth, Charlwood, Hookwood and Leatherhead.
But the Met Office is predicting some bad weather will return with light rain scheduled for tomorrow alongside winds of almost 20 miles per hour.
