HAILING a cab from anywhere is now almost as easy as sticking your thumb in the air, according to one firm which has invested in mobile technology.
Reigate-based Belfry Cars has launched a taxi booking app for the smart phone generation.
General manager Jamie Cunnington said: "The app allows you to book your cab instantly.
"I can book a car from my house to the station in just three taps.
"It's fully trackable. It uses GPS so it locates your position and locates your driver on a map, so you can track your cab on its way to you.
"You can also track the car's make, model and registration. Everything is displayed.
"In terms of safety and security, it gives customers an unbelievable opportunity. It also means in busy times you don't have to queue up on the phone.
"We've developed it in conjunction with our systems people. There are other people using it, but we're the only ones in this area."
The free app – called Belfry Cars Taxi – is available now and can be downloaded from iStore. Users create a profile and it can save entered addresses.
"It's convenient," added Mr Cunnington.
"You can use it at times when you wouldn't make a phone call, and it's quicker."
