A woman was taken to hospital after her car was thrust into the air when a security bollard activated beneath it. Fire crews from Reigate and Horley were called to St Anne's Drive in Redhill at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon to help rescue the woman from her Peugeot 206. A Surrey Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "The car had driven through where there are some automatic barriers and the barriers had gone up leaving her car stranded in the air. "The lady inside did not suffer any major injuries, but the air bag had deployed and she was in a bit of shock." The South East Coast Ambulance Service assisted firefighter colleagues in freeing the woman, and took her to hospital. Firefighters remained on scene until 5.30pm until the the area was made safe.
