Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for a dog walker to contact them following a theft from a car in Caterham. The incident occurred at around 3pm on Tuesday when the silver Vauxhall Insignia was parked on Whyteleafe Road, outside Audley Primary School. Items stolen from the vehicle included a set of Nike golf clubs, a VTech children's touchscreen computer and games, a black Nokia Lumia mobile phone and a sum of money. Around £300 worth of damage was also caused to the car. Det Con Errol Chetty said: "The theft of these items have left the owner significantly out of pocket. "The fact that this theft occurred in broad daylight at a busy time of day shows the lengths those responsible are willing to go to. "I hope this incident acts as a warning to vehicle owners about the risks they take by leaving valuables in their cars and will encourage other people to remove their property before leaving their vehicles unattended." Officers would like to trace a man who is believed to have been walking a dog in the area around the time of the incident and who spoke with the victim following the theft. Detectives would also like to trace two white men seen driving a white van which was also in the area around the time of the offence. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/2886.
