Have a say on homes plan

ANOTHER public consultation is due to take place into the controversial council plan which will govern where thousands of homes are built over the next 14 years.

After scrutinising Reigate and Banstead Borough Council's Core Strategy during a two-week inquiry last month, a Government planning inspector has now asked the authority to make more changes to the blueprint, which includes building on green belt land.

The inspector has recommended the council sets out more clearly that limited revisions to the green belt boundary are acceptable only in exceptional circumstances; deletes any reference to developing green belt land east of Salfords; and considers building more homes in the north-west of the borough – in the Nork and Tattenhams area.

If sanctioned by the council's cabinet when it meets next week, a six-week public consultation will take place in July and August on the amendments.
