LAST week's Yesteryear feature looked at the history of Mickleham Football Club on the occasion of the club's centenary.
We published two photographs – one showing "the Micks" 24 years ago in 1989. The caption for the other photograph stated the picture was of the club team in the 1947-8 season. In fact, the picture used was of a Leatherhead school football club team. We apologise for any confusion caused. This week, we are publishing the picture that should have appeared: the Mickleham football team in the 1949-50 season. The club is asking anyone with any memories of the Micks to write to the Advertiser with their recollections and send in any pictures they may have of the club's bygone days.
The club joined the Dorking and District Football League in July 1913, playing their first match on September 20, away to Ashtead Reserves. The result has been lost after so many years.
The Micks have always played "down Swanworth Lane", albeit in three different locations.
If you have any memories or photos taken over the past 100 years, please send them in to Yesteryear at the address above right. We would be pleased to publish any recollections.
