A DEVELOPMENT which will bring 30 new homes to Horley has been approved.

The plans, which consist of 23 one, two and three-bedroom houses and seven, one and two-bed flats, will replace the current Rosemary Court building in Court Lodge Road, Horley.

It is the latest in a number of new developments in the area, including Horley Leisure Centre.

Members of Reigate and Banstead Borough Council's planning committee, who approved the plans on Wednesday last week, said it added a final touch to the area's redevelopment.

"I think it's very beneficial to Horley," said Horley West councillor Alexander Horwood. "Particularly to the Court Lodge area where we have seen development of the swimming pool and the benefits we've recorded from that. I think this will complement what's going on there."

Horley East councillor Tony Schofield said: "The existing building isn't fit for purpose and this would be a great improvement in the area of Horley and would complement the area where the swimming pool is."

The approved development is for mainly two-storey houses, though the block of flats will be three storeys.

Only three letters were sent to the council highlighting potential problems with the development, including inadequate parking, loss of light and inconvenience during construction.
