A woman was forced to stop her car in the fast lane of the M25 during a road rage incident last night. Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses after the driver of a Mercedes made the victim stop abruptly and then attacked her car. She was driving her silver BMW Z4 on the anti-clockwise stretch between junction 11 at Chertsey and junction 10 at Wisley just before 8.30pm when the blue Mercedes began tailgating her car. The Mercedes, which is described as left hand drive and foreign registered, then undertook the BMW before pulling back in front of it. It came to an abrupt halt forcing the victim to stop. A man then got out of the car, walked up to the BMW and struck the windscreen with his fist causing it to crack. He then got back in the car, which had a woman passenger, and drove off. The victim was able to safely move her vehicle onto the hard shoulder before calling for help. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle involved and officers are appealing for any sightings of it from members of the public. Detective Sergeant Gary Hutchings said: "Forcing a vehicle to stop on the fast lane of a busy motorway is an extremely dangerous thing to do and this incident could have had serious consequences. "Fortunately the woman was not injured but she has understandably been left very shaken by what happened. "I am appealing for anyone who was driving on this section of the M25 last night and may have seen what happened to come forward. The Mercedes is quite distinctive and we believe that other drivers may have seen it driving at speed on the motorway so I would appeal for any witnesses to come forward." Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference number WK/13/3545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
